BRIEF ON SRIE 2023 EXHIBITOR’S R&D COMPETITION

Rules and Regulations for the SRIE 2023 Exhibitor’s R&D Competition:

Eligibility:

  1. The competition is open to exhibitors at the Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo 2023 (SRIE 2023) who have purchased an exhibition booth at the event.
  2. Participants must fall into one of the three categories: Institute of Higher Learning, Private Sector, or Public Sector.
  3. Projects must fall into one of the five specified fields: Biotechnology, Engineering, Applied Physics & Chemistry, Information Technology, or Medical Sciences.
  4. Each participant or team can submit only one project for consideration.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Projects must be submitted in videographic form (duration not exceeding 5 minutes) or through the use of infographics.
  2. The presentation must highlight the research results and demonstrate how the project contributes to solving problems or bringing benefits to society.
  3. All submissions must be in English or Malay.

Registration: 

  1. Registration forms must be completed before the closing date (18 September 2023) by emailing to secretariat@temp.srie.my

Judging Criteria:

  1. Projects will be evaluated based on innovation, creativity, impact, feasibility, and relevance to the chosen field and category.
  2. Judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Intellectual Property Rights:

  1. Participants retain the intellectual property rights of their projects.
  2. By participating in the competition, participants grant the Selangor State Government the right to use, display, and share the projects for promotional and non-commercial purposes, with proper attribution.

Prize Awarding:

  1. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category: Champion, First runner-up, and Second runner-up.
  2. The Champion will receive a cash prize of RM 8,000.00 and a certificate.
  3. The First runner-up will receive a cash prize of RM 4,000.00 and a certificate.
  4. The Second runner-up will receive a cash prize of RM 2,000.00 and a certificate.
  5. Prizes will be presented at the Selangor Research & Development and Innovation Expo, scheduled for 19th to 22nd October 2023.
  6. Winners must be present at the Expo to receive their prizes. In the case of unavoidable circumstances, prior arrangement must be made to claim the prize.

Code of Conduct:

  1. Participants must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner throughout the competition.
  2. Plagiarism or any form of academic misconduct will lead to disqualification.
  3. Participants should not defame, slander, or violate the privacy of any individuals or organizations in their submissions.

Closing Date:

  1. The closing date for submissions is 18th September 2023.
  2. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Changes and Updates:

  1. The Selangor State Government reserves the right to amend or update the rules and regulations if necessary.
  2. Any changes will be communicated through the official competition website and registered participants’ email addresses.

Disqualification:

  1. Participants found to be in violation of any rules or regulations may be disqualified from the competition.
  2. The decision to disqualify will be at the discretion of the organizers.

Compliance with Laws:

Participants must comply with all applicable laws and regulations during their participation in the competition.

By registering for the 2023 Research and Development (R&D) Competition, participants agree to abide by these rules and regulations. Failure to comply may result in disqualification or the forfeiture of any prizes awarded. The Selangor State Government wishes all participants the best of luck and looks forward to showcasing the innovative projects at the Selangor Research & Development and Innovation Expo.
